When traveling to London, the UK government will ask you for an updated official passport, accompanied with a VISA authorization issued by either UK embassies or consulates.
The immigration policy suggests that you must apply for a visa depending on your:
• reason for visiting
• country of nationality
• current location
Immigration officers will advice you of what type of visa you may apply to. There is a point-based system adjusted to each person’s profile from which the immigration officers will base to give you the advice.
Fees for processing your visa application range from £45 to in excess of £600, depending on the type of visa you need. Visa fees are non-refundable but if a payment has been made and the application is not submitted, then the fee could be refunded.
The visa application could be done by summiting an online application form. Currently the online application system only supports applications made in English. Although some countries accept an online payment for visas, we recommend you to visit the Britain’s closer office in your country.
Your visa application will be judged with the following criteria:
• whether you can support yourself financially
• your prospective employer
• your home nation
• your age
• your area of work
• your educational background
• whether you intend to work here temporarily or permanently
• whether you have a criminal record
The immigration offices operate with high effectiveness, issuing non-settlement applications within 24 hours. If an interview is required, the non-settlement applications could be resolved within 20 working days. If you are applying to settle in the UK, in most cases the application could be defined within 12 weeks.
