If you’ve been planning a long weekend in London and are looking for some ideas about what to do there to make the most of your trip, you’ve no doubt come across the standard suggestions of visiting the main sights, the museums, the tours…etc etc.
However, if you want something a little different from your trip, we’re here to help. We’ve come up with some ideas of how to spend your time in London that we think are a little different from the norm, but just as (if not more) exciting.
Go and see some live music
If you love watching live music, then you’ll be spoilt for choice in London. From world class venues like Wembley Stadium to intimate venues like Indigo at the o2, there’s a venue and an act for everyone. With venues all across London, you won’t struggle to find a decent hotel nearby, either.
Have a meal at a Michelin restaurant
There are 55 Michelin starred restaurants in London, so if fine dining is your thing, look no further. There’s a really useful guide here regarding the different restaurants, and it tells you a bit about each of the head chefs there, so you can make a good decision about where to book.
Go for afternoon tea
Or, do as the queen does by indulging in an afternoon tea in one of London’s countless incredible locations. From the world famous Ritz and Claridges to more modern and relaxed locations, there’s something for every taste and budget. It makes a great gift for the special lady in your life, too!
Go and watch some live comedy
If you’re in need of some laughs, planning your trip around some live comedy might be just the ticket. Keep up to date with the latest and upcoming comedy shows with the help of Time Out London. Some shows even include things like dinner and drinks which can be a great way to save time, effort and cash too, as you won’t have to go anywhere else.
Take a cruise on the Thames
If you don’t fancy exploring London by foot or tube, or simply just want to see the city from a different view, then a cruise on the river Thames could be the perfect idea. You can even go for things like champagne afternoon tea on certain boats at certain times, so keep an eye out for things like that! See if you can save any money by booking online, also.
Relax at a luxury spa
Let’s face it, London life is pretty stressful, so why not take advantage of some down time and relax at one of the city’s top, luxury spas? It makes for the perfect day out with your friends (a winner for more relaxed hen parties) and you can even book one in a hotel so you won’t even have to leave on the evening, as dinner will usually be included in the price of the treatments.
